Summer is nice isn’t it? June 30, 2008

Filed under: General — mothersandothers @ 9:31 pm

What the heck, summer’s flying by! Where have I been? In the pool, saving $500 a month by, are you ready, teaching my own children to swim. Who knew modern parents were capable of this sort of thing. Aside from the large money issue, I decided it would be a really special thing between us, to be able to say, “Hey, I taught you how to ride a bike and swim!” So I downloaded the following lovely little e-book for eight buckeroos. How nifty! It cracks me up that pool behavior hasn’t really changed much–remember trying so hard to sit indian-style (that’s probably not politically correct terminology any more is it?) on the bottom of the pool? Brian and I were both equally impressed with our backhandspring skills. So if you’re in the area sometime between 8:00am and 8:00pm the side gate will be open. Push hard, it sticks a little.

Hey who,s cute little feet are those. Are we giving away our parenting secrets. I hope everyone knows that Shal has a much better back handspring then me.

Yeah! We can pretend to have a tea party on the bottom.

    Bri,

Those cute little feet are all you, except for the funny third toes, those are all me. Love you!

i’m a bit – ok a lot – jealous of the pool. we’d so be there if we were closer.

  6. mothersandothers Says:

laughing…you can come here and use the pool and I’ll go there and use your built-ins! You wouldn’t be jealous if you could watch us Nov-May taking the net on and off, brushing, skimming, testing water, cleaning the filter, wondering if it’s worth all the extra work. Then June hits and we have to repent for all our cussing. LOL

  7. Auntie Vickie Says:

Why don’t you just make it a salt water pool?:} I heard the new term for sitting with your legs ‘that way’ is
‘ Criss Cross Applesauce ‘ [Peri says that] I liked that one.Don’t be too surprised when I show up suit and all ! Yikes that’s kinda frightening….hahhahaa. Love ya, Auntie V

  8. Noelle Says:

mom – at least you fit into your swim trunks!!!!!!!!

  9. Anon Says:

Wasn’t Wyatt in swim classes you paid for?

Leaving anonymous comments is a little odd…not sure what my policy will be on these yet…The summer before last we enrolled him with the “Swim Nazi”-an experience that ranks up there with watching his circumcision (another regretful decision for another blog day). After that we decided that he was too young for any of the skills to stick through an entire winter, and plus, we couldn’t afford to pay for two kiddos to go daily for the number of weeks it takes for things to settle in. Hence, starting from scratch, two years later, for free, with amazing results. I recommend it.

    Auntie,

If you come over bring us all a cute vintage swim cap. LOL

  12. Auntie Vickie Says:

Ohhhhh ! Be careful what you ask for ,hahaha…hhhmmmm looks like I have some searching to do…and this could be an addition to the ‘Crazy Hat’ pictures [even though we have neglected to take one lately, oops]Looking forward to Cap Lines on the forehead!

We did let the Crazy Hat tradition die didn’t we? We need to bring that baby back!
